Maureen Cheong BA (Hons) Choreography and Dance

Maureen has been passionate about dance from an early age. Growing up in New Zealand she took as many classes as she could including modern and tap, however it was ballet that sparked her passion most. She continued dancing after her arrival in the UK in 1984 and later went on to study contemporary dance at the University of Winchester obtaining a first class honours degree in 2009. Maureen is a member of People Dancing (the Foundation for Community Dance), she has taught contemporary dance with a balletic influence to all ages and firmly believes that dancing is for everyone no matter what age, shape or level of fitness.  Maureen is also an RAD member and a Silver Swans Licensee teaching ballet to the over 55s.  As a  member of the Cheriton Players she has choreographed their musical production of ‘Alice’ in 2011,  ‘The Great Cheriton Variety Show ‘ in 2015 as well as ‘The Even Greater Cheriton Variety Show’ 2017, and looks forward to working with them again in the near future.
