About

Maureen Cheong BA (Hons) Choreography and Dance

Maureen has been passionate about dance from an early age. Growing up in New Zealand she took as many classes as she could including modern and tap, however it was ballet that sparked her passion most. She continued dancing after her arrival in the UK in 1984 and later went on to study contemporary dance at the University of Winchester obtaining a first class honours degree in 2009. Maureen is a member of the Foundation for Community Dance (People Dancing), she has taught contemporary dance with a balletic influence to all ages and firmly believes that dancing is for everyone no matter what age, shape or level of fitness.  This summer (2017) she became a licensed teacher for the RAD Silver Swans offering gentle ballet classes for the over-55s.  Maureen is also a member of the Cheriton Players and choreographed their musical production of ‘Alice’ in 2011,  ‘The Great Cheriton Variety Show ‘ in 2015 as well as ‘The Even Greater Cheriton Variety Show’ 2017, and looks forward to working with them again in the near future.
